Friday, 27th July 2012

Today we all went with the bus to the Fonda Fish Farm (luckily everyone arrived on time). Before we had the possibility to have a nice view over Portoroz and to Croatia.

At 9.30am the  boat trip to the fish farm started. At the beginning we had a nice introduction and information about the fish farm by the manager and daughter of the initial founder. She also showed us some interesting pictures from under the water. At the sea there were a lot of fish basins containing thousands of fishes. The manager told us an interesting story about the Slovenians that they didn't care about the quality of fresh fish and her concern is to change this. Therefore they launch an own brand for their high-quality fishes. For her high quality and cooperations with local companies. At the end we had a desgustation of raw fish carpaccio and delicious wine which we enjoyed a lot.

When we arrived at the riverbank we had the choice to visit the Secovlje Salina Nature Park. As we had plenty of time the Rumanian and Austrian teams decided to discover the salty world!
However most of us took the possibility to go swimming. It was really interesting to see how salt is obtained, which different kinds of salt exists and how much space is needed. After that of course we had a look through the Salt Shop where we bought some souveniers.

After that we took the bus back to Portoroz and enjoyed our free afternoon at the beach and in the sea! ;) Many thanks for the free afternoon!!

We look forward to have the next excursion to Piran,

Jasmin & Stefanie
